How should candidates prepare for EA exam scheduling and remote proctoring?

Create a PSI account with identity details that match your PTIN and enrollment records, read the current Candidate Information Bulletin before paying, and verify whether remote testing is available for your location. Practise the 3.5-hour exam format, scheduled breaks, workspace discipline, and equipment setup in advance. International scheduling is presently delayed, so do not rely on an unofficial date.

Use only the current official provider

Effective March 1, 2026, the IRS says Prometric no longer develops or administers the EA-SEE. PSI Services is the current provider. Candidate accounts, payments, appointments, confirmations, rescheduling and provider support should therefore be handled through the official PSI programme.

Before paying for an appointment

  1. Confirm that your PTIN is valid and your legal name is consistent.
  2. Read the current Candidate Information Bulletin, including identity, system, break, cancellation and remote-testing rules.
  3. Verify that the test mode is offered for your location on your chosen date. Do not infer availability from a general marketing page.
  4. Review the confirmation immediately and retain the confirmation number.

Current format and breaks

Each part has 3.5 hours of examination time. The IRS describes four hours of seat time for the tutorial, survey and two scheduled ten-minute breaks. The bulletin distinguishes scheduled and unscheduled breaks and contains separate remote-testing regulations. Follow the live bulletin, because a provider can revise operational rules.

Remote-proctor readiness checklist

  • Run the official system check on the same computer, network and room you expect to use.
  • Prepare an uncluttered workspace and remove prohibited papers, devices, screens and interruptions.
  • Verify camera, microphone, power, connectivity and operating-system permissions before test day.
  • Practise remaining in view, following break rules and sustaining concentration for the full timed part.
  • Keep official provider support details available, but never share account credentials with a preparation provider.

Special note for candidates in India

The IRS currently says international scheduling and testing are temporarily delayed, with replacement dates not yet determined. Use that statement as the source of truth. A mock-exam slot from Enrolled Mastery does not indicate that an official PSI appointment is available.

What a proctored mock exam can help with

A proctored mock exam can expose pacing problems, unfamiliarity with camera and microphone monitoring, workspace distractions and fatigue. Enrolled Mastery’s sessions are preparation-only mock exams. They do not reproduce every PSI control, and they never schedule or substitute for an official IRS SEE appointment.

Official primary sources

Enrolled Mastery is an independent examination-preparation provider and is not affiliated with the IRS or PSI Services. Bookings are for mock exams only, not official IRS SEE appointments.
